Charles “Chuck” Owens was called as Senior Pastor to First Baptist Church, Valdosta in August 2014.
Chuck has pastored for over 25 years and served churches in Kentucky, Georgia and Texas. He is passionate about teaching God’s Word and expanding God’s Kingdom through evangelism, discipleship, missions and church growth. He earned his Bachelor or Arts degree from Campbellsville University and his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He is currently working on a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.
Chuck has also taught extension classes for Brewton Parker College (Liberty County Extension) and served on numerous state and local boards and committees in Kentucky, Texas and Georgia.
Chuck loves to read, play sports and spend time with his family. Chuck and his wife Amy have been married for 25 years and have three children, Rachel, Zachary and Ethan. He was born in Ohio (grew up watching the Reds and Bengals), but is also a dedicated University of Kentucky Basketball fan—go Cats!
Chuck feels honored to serve First Baptist Valdosta. It’s Chuck’s desire that First Baptist Church continues to impact lives with the Gospel in Valdosta and around the world.
Associate Pastor of Education
MacArthur Weaver, affectionately called Mac, has been a devoted and trusted leader at First Baptist Church of Valdosta for over 40 years.
Mac grew up in North and South Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education in Supervision and Administration from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In 1971, Mac completed his Master of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mac and his wife Judy then accepted the calling to serve First Baptist Church of Valdosta.
In addition to serving as the Minister of Education at First Baptist Church, Mac has lead numerous foreign mission teams in Liberia, Malawi, Honduras, Venezuela, Belgium, Thailand, South Africa, Zambia, Israel, China, Jordan and Paraguay. He has also lead home mission teams in church building in Wyoming, Kentucky and Kansas. For the past ten years, Mac has served as the Director of FAITH ministries at First Baptist Church. He is very involved in the Valdosta community and has extensive marriage and personal counseling experience.
Mac and Judy have three grown children and twelve grandchildren. His wife Judy is a retired Valdosta High School teacher.

Minister of Music
Since 1996, Ron Hatchett has been leading the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Valdosta and helping its members sing praise to God.
Ron grew up in Tennessee and Alabama. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee in 1968 and his Master of Music in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1976. Additionally, Ron studied Master of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and later attended the U.S. Naval Chaplain School where he earned his diploma with honors in 1986.
His professional musical background includes involvement in numerous operas, choral and quartet groups plus he has served as orchestra conductor for several musicals and cantatas. Ron has sang with the Singing Men of Texas, the Sons of Jubal, and the Florida Baptist Singing Men. He has been a voice instructor.
Ron and his wife Sara have two daughters, Caroline and Merrilea.
Pastor of Children and Families
Drew Boswell believes that it is from the home that people have the most opportunity to impact the world around them.
Originally from Alabama, Drew earned his Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University in 1996. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina with a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree. Drew has over 15 years in the ministry. Before coming to Valdosta, Drew served as the Senior Pastor at Daybreak Community Church in Frederick, Maryland. During that time he served in various leadership roles within the Blue Ridge Baptist Association including the chairman of the Personnel Committee, chairman of the Director of Mission Search Committee, Credentials Committee and Moderator. Drew accepted the call to serve at First Baptist Church of Valdosta in 2011.
Drew is married to Kimberly and they have four wonderful children Joshua, Caleb, Hannah-Grace, and Isaac.

Pastor of Students
Jared has a passion for seeing students encounter Jesus, and the moments of discovery in their lives are some of the most amazing that he gets to enjoy. While working with students for the past 15 years, he has completed a Bachelor of Arts course of study from Luther Rice University in Lithonia, GA. He and his wife, Hope, enjoy college football, spending time with their three daughters, and often talk fondly of how quiet their house used to be.
Jared is married to Hope and they have three children Crosby, Andie, and Elyott.
